As a Ph.D. candidate at Princeton University, Henrietta studied at the School of Public and International Affairs, with a concentration in Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy. Her research focused on diplomacy and international negotiations, particularly in the context of technical international security issues and the Middle East. Prior to her master's and Ph.D. studies, she received her undergraduate degree in Biophysics and International Relations from Claremont McKenna College, with the support of the Interdisciplinary Science Scholarship.
Henrietta has worked extensively with college applicants and undergraduate students, including serving as a senior admissions committee member for Claremont McKenna College and Princeton. In her personal life as well, She loves exploring new cultures and has traveled extensively, and is currently learning Persian and Arabic at an advanced level. Henrietta is originally from Kuopio, Finland, and grew up in a Finnish-Polish family.
Evan has a Bachelor of Science in Evolutionary Biology and Ecology from the University of Colorado Boulder, an MA in Applied Evolution from Stony Brook University, and a PhD in Human Medical Genetics and Genomics from the University of Colorado Anschutz.
Evan is a passionate teacher with many years of experience working with students in biology, statistics, scientific writing, and data science. He also has over five years of experience facilitating workshops for medical doctors interested in learning about medical genetics. He has helped countless students excel in college-level biology and statistics courses and has worked with students and interns to successfully publish scientific papers.
Evan believes that students who gain research experience before pursuing higher education are ultimately more engaged in their learning and have the drive to contribute and drive progress within their fields.
As a mentor, Evan engages with QRI students to better understand their goals and encourages creative problem-solving by giving them small, achievable milestones to meet those goals. He fosters a creative drive by asking students about their passions and how they can see themselves integrating their interests and giving back to the global community as they accomplish their research projects.
Phylicia has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters of Public Health in Health Policy and Management from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Doctorate of Public Health in Healthcare Management and Leadership from Johns Hopkins University.
Phylicia is passionate about sharing her knowledge with students to make engaging in independent research manageable and enjoyable. Doing research and exploring new topics should be fun, and Phylicia ensures students are excited and comfortable throughout the process. Her mentorship has led many students to pursue medical, healthcare, and public health careers.
As a mentor, Phylicia provides students with guidance to help them navigate research. She ensures QRI students feel supported and know they’re not alone throughout the process. Phylicia shares her experiences and lessons learned with students to equip them for success. She knows how to ask students the right questions to uplift their ideas, ensuring they pursue topics they are passionate about. Phylicia’s greatest strength as a coach is her ability to encourage students to lean into their passions and experiences. She aims to help students gain new perspectives regarding academic and career opportunities and the confidence to pursue them, ultimately giving them the tools to develop competitive resumes and college applications.
